In the heyday of the Barnett Shale, Russell was part of a team that secured a summary judgment that determined his client had not conveyed interests in numerous shale gas wells, turning back the plaintiff’s claims. The summary judgment, which was granted in an adversary proceeding in bankruptcy court, was subsequently affirmed by the district court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
